How to build a shortlist of partners

This is where you start getting to know potential partners. You might want to:

  • Check out their website, past work, story and values
  • Read what they say on blogs and social media
  • Hear to what others say and think of them

Ways to build a list

  1. Get recommendations - ask colleagues and peers (i.e Digital Charities)
  2. Live projects - find projects (i.e. websites) you admire, and reach out to the creator
  3. Browse partner directory - search and filter based on your needs and criteria
  4. Create shortlist - click "Add to Shortlist" from partner directory (account required)

Finding suitable partners

Set out some criteria based on what's important to the project, such as:

  • Location - if you want to easily work together IRL
  • Full service - if you need a range of skills (i.e. research, design and build)
  • Technical capability - if you have a particular technical requirement
  • Domain experience - if you want a partner to have worked with your audiences
  • Recommendation - if you want a partner to be recommended by a trusted source
  • Ongoing support - if you want partners to offer ongoing support
  • Ways of working - if you have requirements around processes and tools
