Technical and UX changes to the partner directory
Introduction
Dovetail is built using a no-code and low-code tech stack. For the last few years, we've been using Jetboost for searching, filtering and sorting partners in the partner directory. Jetboost is a lovely tool, it has lots of features, and it's very easy to configure.
However, Jetboost costs $19 per month to use the searching, filtering and sorting features. To be fair, this cost covers usage across all websites in one Webflow account. But Dovetail was the only website utilising Jetboost.
From Jetboost to Finsweet Attributes
The extra expense forced to explore technical solutions. We've swapped out Jetboost for Finsweet Attributes. (List Filter, List Sort, and List Load). It's a bit more fiddly to set up than Jetboost, and the controls over user experience are not as refined. However, Finsweet Attributes is free to use. And the documentation is pretty sweet.
We've also made a change to the layout. The previous version displayed a stacked row of partners, with an image on the left of each row (first screenshot below). The new version is a 2-column grid, with a smaller icon shown in each card (second image below). Now that all partners are being loaded, we decided to remove the large image to reduce load times.

The directory in action
You can see the new version in action over in the partner directory. If you spot a bug or something doesn't feel right, please email hello@dovetail.network and we'll take a look.
